Mzothani said the assault happened without provocation. “ I was drunk but I was assaulted inside the house. How could I stop police from doing their work inside the house? I’m nursing a broken ankle and fingers because they dragged me,” said Mzothani.

“He was charged with being drunk and disorderly. He was resisting arrest . It may happen that he sustained some injuries during the .”

Mzuku said no case was opened by Mzothani.

Mzothani said that on Saturday night he heard a noise coming from a neighbour’s house and his cousin went to investigate. An argument apparently led to a fight and one of the people involved came back to the cousin’s house where he was enjoying himself with his cousin and friends. After a few minutes, two police vehicles arrived looking for the man.

“They arrested the person they were looking for but one of them told me that I was drunk and disorderly and the next minute I was on the floor with my left hand handcuffed. They dragged me out of the house, through the kitchen down the footpath to the police vans,” he said.
