DA youth leader's home torched

A Democratic Alliance youth leader has gone into hiding after his Cape Town shack was torched at the weekend, the Daily Voice reported on Monday.

Lagunya constituency leader Luzuko Mngqibisa, 23, reportedly fled his burning shack in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He found a portable flush toilet, garbage and a note in front of his house.

The note reportedly reads: "We don't want to kill you, you are still young but if you don't leave our people alone you are going to get a bullet... So your Zille must take you away from here before we get you."

He told the newspaper he suspected African National Congress members were behind the arson attack, because of the recent sanitation protests over portable toilets.

Police confirmed they were investigating a case of arson.

Zille had arranged for him to stay at an undisclosed location for his own safety.
