Randall lauded for role in family, world of cricket

THE “darling of Border cricket”, Darryn “Dazza” Randall, was laid to rest over the weekend, six days after his tragic death on a cricket field. Randall, 32, a wicketkeeper and batsman for Old Selbornians, died while playing against Fort Hare University in their Premier league match in Alice last Sunday.

His funeral on Saturday at the Quigney Baptist church was attended by friends, teammates and cricketers from different clubs around the Eastern Cape.

Some mourners came from as far as Australia. Speaker after speaker, including family members, described Randall as a talented sportsman and spoke of the huge gap his death left in both the family and cricketing world.
