Three initiates die in EC

BARELY a week after the pronouncement of the opening of the winter initiation season, three initiates have died in the Eastern Cape.

Two of the three deaths happened on Sunday and Monday. The start of the season was officially announced on Friday. The first death was recorded on June 7.

The deaths come as both the national and provincial government, as well as the Eastern Cape House of Traditional Leaders embarked in a robust campaign for zero-deaths this season.

Authorities are still waiting for post-mortem.
