Gonubie ex-pilot found in Durban

THE Gonubie ex-pilot who went missing from his Gonubie home last Thursday morning is recovering at King Edward Hospital after being found in a dehydrated and disorientated state on a highway outside Durban.

According to his wife Denise, former microlight pilot Clinton Phillips, 63, who is unable to speak, read or write since he suffered a stroke four years ago, was picked up by a couple in a confused state and taken to the hospital on Sunday.

“A nurse went through his suitcase and found his driver’s license, which he must have taken from my handbag. By divine intervention her surname is also Phillips, so she decided to look on Facebook if anyone was looking for him and that is where she discovered the missing person notice and called one of his brothers.”

A relieved Denise said she assumed her husband had hitch- hiked to Durban to visit his twin brother Glen, who lives in Amanzimtoti.
