10 wanted for killing three in EC

AN ARCHBISHOP, his wife and their disabled son have been hacked to death at their home in Lugwijini village, Mbizana, at the weekend.

Their house was then set alight after Ethiopian Zionist archbishop Julius Nomaqhiza, 72, his wife MaGqema, 65, and their son Ayanda Nomaqhiza, 29, were brutally killed on Saturday night.

Nomaqhiza’s 14-year-old granddaughter escaped through a back window. The incident has left villagers fearing for their lives.

Nomaqhiza’s neighbour, Mazangwa Gigaba, described them as a peace-loving family and devoted Christians.

Police said the murders were believed to be linked to witchcraft. They said they were looking for 10 people in connection with the crime.

Provincial commissioner lieutenant-general Celiwe Binta strongly condemned the “violent and unlawful behaviour”.
