A vacancy exists for an experienced and dynamic multimedia journalist to join the Daily Dispatch editorial department.
Purpose of the Job: To provide newsworthy and high-quality digital content, including audio and video. Publish the content on DispatchLive web pages and all our digital platforms. Drive the Dispatch’s digital presence using Facebook, Twitter, and other appropriate social media to promote the newspaper and the brand. Ensure that material on the Dispatch website is accurate and attractive. Monitor readers’ comments in all digital platforms.
Person Specification: Post-matric qualification in journalism and multimedia/ video, or a related discipline. At least two to three years experience in online journalism. Must have a driver’s license.

Knowledge of the Eastern Cape and South African current affairs.
Thorough knowledge of the web, multimedia and WordPress.
Knowledge of the online media industry, web page layout and social media
Knowledge of HTML and other web development and programming technologies
Knowledge of journalism and news writing
Knowledge of, and adherence to, high standards of media ethicsSkills |
Excellent story generation and contact building skills
Ability to help train colleagues on the website
Accuracy
Experience in Electronic or New Media production.
Ability to work on applications such as WordPress, Pinnacle, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, After Effects etc and digital media such as Flash.
