Young writers celebrate Biko legacy in journal

The Steve Biko Foundation is giving young writers, aged 25-40, an opportunity to submit articles for the FrankTalk Journals’ 8th and 9th edition.

The ‘Call for Paper’ initiative focuses on two topics and the chosen articles will be published on the November and December issues of the FrankTalk Journal.

The Steve Biko Foundations’ communications officer, Thando Sipuye, says that the foundations’ FrankTalk initiative is giving "young Africans a platform to express themselves" and to live up to the legacy of Steve Biko.

The first topic, which will be published on the November 2014 edition of the FrankTalk Journal, is "20 Years of Democracy

Still Confronting Challenges to Nation Building".

Submissions may focus on issues surrounding national challenges in economic, political and social contexts but there are no limitations, as long as the content is relevant to the topic.

The second topic, which will be published in the December 2014 edition of the FrankTalk Journal, is "Robert Sobukwe at 90: The Relevance of Pan-Africanism today".

There are also no limitations to this topic but the general guideline for submissions is the focus on the legacy of Robert Sobukwe and the relevance of Pan-Africanism in modern times.

The length of the articles should be between 1000 and 2000 words per article and submissions are to be emailed to Thando Sipuye at: tsipuye@sbf.org.za
