Client hits out at car dealer in pay dispute

An East London man is demanding R25000 from a local car dealer, who sold a car on his behalf a few months ago and is now unable to pay up.

Thembekile Patso took his car to ALF-Pat Auto Trading in Amalinda Main Road in July this year and asked that they help him to sell his Chevrolet Aveo.

The car was sold for R48000 and Patso expected R45000, with R3000 being paid over to the dealer as commission.

He said dealer Mzwamadoda Bululu promised to make a bank transfer.

“I waited for more than three days and when I went to him, he told me that he had a problem with the bank as his finances were frozen,” said Patso.

A week later, on August 11, Patso received a call to collect his money.

“I was surprised when they gave me R20000 and I asked for more and they say they will contact me,” said Patso. “It’s been three months of waiting for my money. I need them to pay me the money.”

Patso said he has made numerous calls to Bululu, but claims his calls are simply ignored.

“The last time I heard from Bululu was in August when he gave me this R20000 and since then he runs away from me. He doesn’t take my calls at all. I don’t know what to do. I reported him to Consumer Complaints offices as I was not getting any luck from this dealership,” said Patso.

Consumer Complaints Duon Odendaal confirmed that they were assisting Patso. “We’ve contacted the dealership and we are advising on the matter.”

Contacted by the Daily Dispatch, Bululu admitted to owing Patso R25000. He, however, denies claims that his calls were ignored.

“Yes, we owe him that amount,” said Bululu.

The dealer said he was doing his best to help.

“Patso knows our problem we are facing with the bank and once that is sorted, he is going to get what is due to him.” — bonganif@dispatch.co.za
