Mdantsane producer King Wave’s latest production has been chosen as the theme song for legendary DJ Vinny da Vinci’s new show on Channel O.
King Wave, real name Zukhanye Sidinile, said he was over the moon when he got a call from one of the show’s producer’s telling him to watch the new show.
Sidinile said he could not believe it when he heard his song playing when Vinny’s House made its debut last weekend.
“I was like what! I couldn’t believe it. It was exciting, I feel like I am moving forward in my music career,” he said.
Sidinile said when he started making music in 2009 he never imagined that his work would be played by House Afrika Records legends such as Vinny da Vinci and DJ Christos.
“This has made my music hustle become something real, it is not just something that one talks about when they are with friends but things are happening and I am excited.”
Sidinile said he received a call from Tim White last Saturday asking him to watch Channel O that evening.
“I was surprised, I couldn’t believe it. I knew that they were planning a house show since last year but I did not think they would use my song.”
He now hopes to be invited on the show.
“I would love to go there for an interview. Already the show has a huge following because of the legendary Vinny.”
He believes this is the start of great things to come in his music career. Later this month he will embark on a provincial tour to promote his music.
“I will also be releasing my album, Making Music in the Dark.”
DJ Christos said he was impressed by Sidinile and along with Cape Town-based DJ Dino Michael, has released an album featuring young producers an upcoming musicians.
“Dino chose King Wave’s song for the compilation. When I heard his song I was impressed.”
DJ Christos said Sidinile had the potential to become one of the country’s great music producers. “I am aware that he is young but what I heard was amazing,” he said.
DJ Christos and Dino Michael’s album titled Deep From The Motherland is now out on release. Sidinile said some of his music had also been included on an album produced by House Afrika Records.
“There are about four songs that have been compiled for compilations by the record,” he said. House Afrika Records is South Africa’s leading dance music label. The theme song, Salute, was one of the productions featured on the House Afrika Record compilation.
