The Congress of the People’s national spokesman Johann Abrie has defected to the Democratic Alliance. The DA today welcomed Abrie to the party.
“The DA continues to build a truly diverse political alternative for all South Africans who are committed to the Constitution and working for opportunities for all,” national spokesman Marius Redelinghuys said in a statement.
“Abrie’s decision to join the DA is further evidence of this.”
He said Abrie officially resigned from COPE yesterday, where he had been a party member since its inception in 2008.
While a member of COPE, Abrie served as a member of the Limpopo legislature and a councillor in the Modimolle municipality.
