Krejcir and others to be charged for Issa murder

Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir and three others are due to appear in the Germiston Magistrate's Court on Friday to be charged with the murder of businessman Sam Issa."They are appearing this morning... where they will be charged for murder," said Lt-Gen Solomon Makgale.

"All of them are already behind bars as we speak for other crimes."

Makgale identified the other three accused as Siboniso Miya, Siphiwe Memela, and Nkanyiso Mafunda.

Issa and Krejcir were business associates. Issa was shot dead in Bedfordview on October 12, 2013, while sitting in his Audi Q7. A white Ford Ranger pulled up next to him and the occupants opened fire, killing him.

At the time of the murder, IOL reported that Issa was a drug trafficker.

Krejcir arrived in South Africa in 2007 and was detained for a month after allegedly using a forged passport.

Krejcir's associates Uwe Gemballa and Teazers strip club owner Lolly Jackson, with whom he was allegedly involved in a money-laundering operation, were both killed in 2010.

In March 2011, Krejcir's security consultant Cyril Beeka was killed in a drive-by shooting. An alleged hit-list found in Krejcir's home, contained the names of Beeka and security consultant Paul O'Sullivan.

In October 2013, Issa was killed and in November, a Serbian man, Veselin Langanin, who was arrested with Krejcir for armed robbery, was shot dead in his Bedfordview home.

In October 2012 the armed robbery charges against Krejcir were withdrawn.

In his home country in 2012, Krejcir was sentenced in absentia to 11 years in jail for money-laundering.

Also in 2012, Krejcir was arrested for fraud related to a R4.5 million insurance claim, allegedly made using medical papers stating he had bladder cancer. The charges were withdrawn.

In 2013, Krejcir survived a number of alleged attempts on his life. In July that year his car was shot at seconds after he got out of it, in the parking lot of his Money Point gold and diamond exchange business in Bedfordview.

His former employee Brendan Harrison was arrested for allegedly plotting to kill him. In November that year, two people were killed in a bomb blast at the same premises.

On November 22, 2013 he was arrested for kidnapping and attempted murder.

The arrest was a week after the blast.

In 2014, Krejcir's co-accused, Miya was arrested on charges of kidnapping, attempted murder and drug dealing.

It was alleged that Krejcir, Miya, and others recruited a man known as Doctor Nkosi to help smuggle 25kg of tik (methamphetamine) to Australia. Nkosi, who worked for a cargo company at OR Tambo International Airport, disappeared with the shipment. The accused allegedly kidnapped and tortured his brother Bheki Lukhele in a bid to have him reveal his sibling's whereabouts.

Memela, meanwhile, was arrested along with others on charges of conspiracy to kill police Colonel Nkosana "Killer" Ximba and O'Sullivan.

Mafunda was among Memela's co-accused.
