The National Sea Rescue Institute today issued a warning to all beachgoers and bathers of strong rip currents off its coast over the Easter weekend.
“Anyone going down to the beach and anyone visiting the coastline over the Easter weekend is advised to be aware of the full moon spring tide and stronger than normal rip currents‚” NSRI spokesman Craig Lambinon said in a statement.
This is as a result of the higher and lower than normal high and low tides brought on by the full moon phase‚ which will peak on Saturday and will last for the next five to six days.
“Extreme caution around the coast is advised over Easter weekend‚” Lambinon said.
