Girl, 10, missing from home

A 10-year-old Mdantsanse girl has disappeared after a family’s late-night birthday celebrations.

Siphosihle Xawuka, a Grade 6 pupil at Phumelani Higher Primary in NU8 in Mdantsane, was last seen in her home wearing a red sleeveless night dress, with a white printed dog on the front.

The young girl was discovered missing hours after the last guest left their home at 4am on Saturday morning.

Zoleka Ncedani, Xawuka’s guardian, had been celebrating her 50th birthday and invited more than 30 family members and a few neighbours to her home.

“She had been home buzzing around us most of the night, it was only in the morning when everyone was awake that we discovered she was not in the house.”

Ncedani said she had assumed that Xawuka was in one of the four bedrooms with her siblings and cousins.

Police spokesman Lieutenant Nkosikho Mzuku confirmed that police were investigating a missing person’s case. Anyone with information that may lead to Xawuka being found is urged to contact Constable Zandisile Zweni of Vulindlela SAPS on 083-717-4132 or (043)762-4800. — mbalit@dispatch.co.za
