East London’s hit-maker Mobi Dixon made his debut on the Big Brother Mzansi stage on Sunday during the live eviction show.

The DJ, accompanied by vocalist M.Que, performed their hit song City Rains during the show.

Mobi Dixon, whose real name is Mabi Ntuli, said he was happy to have had the opportunity to play on the Big Brother stage.

Sunday’s eviction show saw Cape Town couple Abongile “Bongi” Mbauli and Khali Masooane kicked off the show after spending 35 days in the game.

The couple both celebrated their birthdays in Big Brother’s house. They joined the show at just three months into their new relationship.

When host Lungile Radu asked them if being on Big Brother had improved their relationship, Mbauli said “I think it definitely did. We came out of there knowing more about each other than when we went in.”

A tearful Masooane revealed that she was the one who wanted to take part in Big Brother.

“He literally came here for me. He genuinely stayed the whole time. It was exclusively for me,” she said.

Wrapping up their interviews, they both told Radu that they felt that their time on the show was worth it and they had no regrets.

When the show first started in March, there were 10 pairs.

Masooane and Mbauli’s eviction has brought the number of evicted couples to five.

However, Durban musician Siyanda “Adams” Ngwenya was removed from the house on suspicion of possible misconduct while Queenstown insurance sales consultant Axola “Bexx” Mbengo was removed for her own well-being.

Mbengo and Ngwenya were not a pair; their partners are still part of the show.

With only three weeks left before the winners of the show are announced, a total of five couples remain.

The remaining five pairs not only have to outdo one another during Big Brother’s challenges but they have to convince the nation they have what it takes to win the R2-million prize.

This coming Sunday another pair will head home, bringing the number of pairs to four.

Big Brother: Double Trouble is screened 24/7 on DStv channels 197 and 198. The 56-day series is produced for Mzansi Magic by Endemol Shine Africa. — poliswap@dispatch.co.za
