An autistic man spent three days living with his dead mother after she had been shot in the head.

Police are now searching for the other son of Nonkululeko Swartbooi, 61, in connection with the shooting, believed to have been on Thursday. A neighbour found her body on Sunday.

Police spokesman Captain Mluleki Mbi said yesterday the woman’s 23-year-old son, who also lived with them, has not been seen since the body was found.

Her white 2014 Nissan Almera, firearm, cellphone and two plasma TVs were missing. There was no forced entry into the woman’s Mdantsane NU13 home.

Cases of robbery, theft and murder were opened.

Until she was discovered, the woman’s autistic son Wola Swartbooi, 26, continued as normal, helping himself to the fridge when hungry and sleeping when he needed.

The woman’s younger sister, Neliswa Swartbooi, said Nonkululeko was last seen alive on Thursday afternoon. Her neighbours thought it odd the garage door and gate were left wide open for three days.
