Sanral representatives are expected to appear at the Wild Coast’s Sigidi village on Wednesday to explain the alleged forgery of names in the N2 Highway Toll Road scandal to the communities affected.

The Amadiba Crisis Committee wants them to give answers of the alleged forgery of four affidavits‚ allegedly from community members‚ supporting the toll project and denying they had ever heard about attorney Cormac Cullinan representing them”.

Three of the affidavits are signed by “Gotyelwa Mathumbu”‚ “Mfihlelwa Mdtatya” and “Msulwa Ndovela” – these people‚ the committee said‚ are “unknown” in the Sigidi community.

The fourth affidavit is allegedly signed by Nomvelana “Lolo” Mhlegana from Mdatya village‚ who an elected member of the Umgungundlovu Traditional Authority.

“She is known for being strongly opposed to mining of the Wild Coast and the N2 Toll Road High Way‚” the committee said.

“She is outraged that her name was stolen.”

Sanral has withdrawn the affidavits from court actions surrounding the toll road‚ but the committee still wants answers.

The Amadiba communities are said to be opposed to the four-lane toll road because it will serve only the mining project of MRC‚ with no regard to “farming and grazing land and displacing more than 200 homesteads”.

“Sanral refuses to say exactly where the N2 Toll Road is planned to be. We need an upgrade of all local roads. That is what we call development. The N2 Toll Road is not for us‚” the committee said.
