Mdantsane man hands self in for sister’s rape, murder

The brother of a Mdantsane woman found raped and murdered last year has surrendered to police in connection with her killing.

Police spokesman Captain Mluleki Mbi said before Ayanda Bolosha, 21, handed himself in on Monday, they had neither suspect nor lead more than a year after the murder.

He arrived at the Vulindlela police station in NU12 with a relative, told police about his involvement in the crime and was taken into custody.

“We understand the issue was bothering him and he spoke to his family about it,” Mbi said.

Xolisa Bolosha, 31, of NU6 was raped and repeatedly stabbed in the early hours of July 27 2014. Her body was found dumped in a bushy area close to Cecilia Makiwane Hospital.

She had last spoken to her boyfriend, David Madletyana, the night before while out with friends.

A few hours later he received a text from her: “Ndifile ngoku .”

Mbi said further investigation had led police to believe two more people were involved in the murder.

“The one suspect is already prison for another crime and the other is still at large.

“An arrest is imminent,” Mbi said. Bolosha appeared in the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

His bail hearing begins today. — zwangam@dispatch.co.za
