The trial of the driver involved in a collision in which television presenter Simba Mhere died has been delayed by two months.

Preshalin Naidoo appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday to face charges of reckless driving and culpable homicide.

The case was postponed to October 29.

Naidoo’s lawyer‚ Satch Govender asked the court to postpone the matter to allow him to study reports from accident construction experts he received from the state.

He will also consult with the advocate taking over from him to represent Naidoo.

The defence team was considering steps to take‚ including a possible plea‚ Govender said.

Magistrate Ndivhuwo Setusha initially refused to grant the postponement saying a month was too long.

Mhere and his friend‚ Kady-Shay O’Bryan‚ who was a passenger in the car Mhere was driving‚ died on the scene of the accident on William Nicol Drive in Fourways on January 31.

They were on the way to the OR Tambo International Airport to fly to Cape Town for the J& B Met.

Mhere’s father‚ Joseph‚ was also in the car.

Mhere‚ 26‚ was a presenter of the lifestyle show Top Billing‚ and O’Bryan‚ 29‚ was a blogger‚ social commentator and a single mother of a four-year-old girl.
