Popular 5FM DJ Roger Goode is set to turn up the heat in the East London entertainment scene when he plays at the Switch on the Night party at Buccaneers tomorrow.

Goode burst onto the scene in 2002 with the hit single In the Beginning and has been a radio presenter with 5FM for more than 10 years.

Speaking to the Daily Dispatch, Goode said since Numbers Dance Club closed down, he had not had a chance to play in East London and had been keen to return.

He said the success and survival of night clubs was sometimes determined by the nature of the people in the town and trends.

“It’s like that in many other places in the country; the scene goes through different phases.

“East London has always had a kinda style of its own. I really love the Eastern Cape. You have to take your hat off to a brand like Numbers, for example, which managed to weather this strange business for as many seasons as it did.”

When not on the airwaves between 4pm and 7pm on the Roger Goode show, Goode runs his own production company specialising in CD production, voice-overs, radio commercial production and event planning.

“The last time I performed in EL was last September at the Blue Lagoon and Numbers for 5FM’s 043 Takeover. Working as a producer and host in the radio business eats up most of my day at the moment. Week nights and weekends I DJ at corporate events or clubs.”

Organiser Daryn Mildenhall said the event was initially billed for the Beacon Bay Crossing Mall but the overwhelming response had necessitated a shift to a larger venue.

lThe show starts at 8pm at Buccaneers and will feature popular East London DJs such as Loft, Dwayne, Kool E and Zaahid Adams.

Tickets cost R80 at the door and pre-sale tickets are available at R60pp. Contact Jed Aldany on 074-257-0236.
