Former Generations star and one of South Africa’s leading actors and comedians Siyabonga Radebe will be in East London on Friday in the 99% Xhosa Comedy show.

Radebe, now known as SiyaB, broke into the industry as a lead actor on SABC 1’s drama series A Place Called Home in 2006.

Since then he has gone on to feature in other series such as Rhythm City, Intersexions, uGugu noAndile and popular SABC1 soapie Generations.

“The one thing I can say I am proud to have achieved this year is producing and acting in my own sitcom (Him, Her and the Guy) for SABC 1, created and produced by myself and Lerato Mvelase,” he said.

Radebe made his stand-up comedy debut in 2012 when he was featured on a Comedy Central live show.

“I have always had a funny bone, I come from a big family in KZN and my family has always been my audience.

“I just didn’t know that later in life my family would be bigger than even the township I come from,” said Radebe.

On where he gets his inspiration from, Radebe said: “Everyday life, everyday feelings, emotions of human life.”

The 99% Xhosa Comedy show, coming to East London for the third time, provides a platform for local comedians to show case their talents.

The line-up includes Anele Shube, Sister H, Sifeiso Nene and Siya Seya.

The show will be held at Hemingways@The Venue and tickets are available at Computicket and Shoprite-Checkers for R150. — ziphon@dispatch.co.za
