Butterworth set to jive to jazz

Butterworth is buzzing with anticipation as its second annual Mnquma Jazz, Arts and Culture Festiva l draws near.

Invited artists, like Eastern Cape’s own Afro-soul songstress, Thandiswa Mazwai, will magic on stage on November 28 and 29.

Thousands of music lovers from the province and nationwide are expected to descend on Butterworth.

The festival has a fantastic line-up of nationally acclaimed artists, including afro-soul sensation Nathi Mank ayi, gospel star S’fiso Ncwane, poet and singer Jessica Mbangani, as well as gospel and maskandi star Yolanda Vuthela.

The list of hot DJs includes DJ Professor, DJ Ganyani and Umhlobo Wenene FM’s DJ Pastor.

Mthatha’s popular DJ PK and traditional singers Amawele Ka Mamtshawe will also perform.

Veteran broadcaster Putco Mafani will be the master of ceremonies.

Jazz maestro Selaelo Selota gets the groove going, opening the show at Gcuwa Dam in Butterworth on November 28.

Mazwai, who performed at last year’s festival, said she was excited to be back after last year’s “amazing” festival.

“Mnquma mayor Bhabha Ganjana said the event was a springboard for the municipality’s tourism programme.

Organisers have promised to beef up security at the dam during the festival.
