GREETING A NEW DAY: From next Friday Hogsback again hosts Revive: Body, Mind and Spirit
End of year burnout and pre-Christmas frazzle can be ironed out by attending a “life-enhancing” series of meditative waterfall walks, de-stress massages and laughter workshops in the mountainous splendour of Hogsback next weekend.

The Revive: Body, Mind, Spirit from December 4 to 6 is being held for a second time following its success last year, said organiser Leigh Smith of Hogsback Events.

“I started it to showcase Hogsback which is an incredible, healing place and is well-known as a spiritual and nature destination. It is also intimate, not like festivals with millions of people.

“Last year went exceptionally well and there was an incredible vibe. People came from all over and there was a wonderful sense of it being well-rounded, holistic and balanced.”

The Revive workshops kick off next Friday evening with a cocktail party at the The Edge Mountain Retreat and a keynote address by East London homeopath and author Dr Loretta Ferrucci about the underlying causes of disease and how to remove obstacles to healing.

On Saturday guests can take an inspirational hike to the Swallowtail Falls where they can “write their hearts into place” with poets Norman Morrisey and Silke Heiss, or join spacial dynamics practitioner Thomas Muller and yoga teacher Cher Strydom in a workshop on spinal health.

Besides personal healing, participants will also have an opportunity to focus on restoring the earth by learning about natural building, permaculture, land rehabilitation and recycling with horseman Shane Eades.

And, for those who have endured a tough year, motivational speaker Margaret Fourie’s laughter workshop may be the best medicine.

On Sunday, Hogsback’s famous waterfalls once again become the centre of the Revive weekend when Cape Town transformational coach Tracy Russell puts participants in touch with their feminine energies of “allowing, surrender and intuition” in a bid to access deeper levels of self love.

Another Sunday option is shaman Lyn de la Motte’s (aka Lyn Spirit Eagle) untangling energies class.
