EC politician Andile Nkuhlu dies

Andile Nkuhlu, the former ANC Youth League Eastern Cape leader who is one of Congress of the People's founding members, has died this morning.

The Port Elizabeth-born socialite and businessman who once served as COPE's Eastern Cape chairman died in a Johannesburg hospital after being admitted for a long illness.

His death was confirmed by his younger brother, Sabelo Nkuhlu, who said Andile  died in the early hours of this morning after being  hospitalised "for some time".

Tributes poured in on social networks in the wake of  Nkuhlu's death. His former COPE and ANC comrade Nkosifikile Gqomo said he will always remember Nkuhlu's eloquence, fearless stance when advancing a point and his political dynamism.

Former COPE provincial secretary and close friend Archie Ralo wrote: “Death be not proud”,  while water and sanitation spokesman Mlimandlela Ndamase described Nkuhlu as "one of the finer products" of the youth league and "a very dynamic political being".
