Judgment in Flabba case being handed down

Judge Solly Sithole began handing down judgment on Wednesday in the case against Sindisiwe Manqele, accused of murdering Nkululeko "Flabba" Habedi.

For the very first time, Habedi's daughter, Lesego, has attended the proceedings.

Dressed in her school uniform, she sat next to Habedi's mother and brother in the second row of the court gallery.

Also in the gallery was Flabba's colleague, Shugasmax.  The pair were part of a notorious hip hop group Skwatta Kamp.

Habedi was fatally stabbed by his girlfriend, Manqele at his home in Alexandra in March this year.

Manqele has pleaded self-defence. Under cross-examination, she told the court that she stabbed him on purpose because she wanted to get away from him.

She said the mistake was killing him.

Sithole on Wednesday started going through the evidence of state witnesses.

He said while the first five witnesses had testified on hearing the couple argue, they could not shed light on what had occurred inside the couple's bedroom moments before the stabbing.
