A mother travelling with her two children, aged five and two, says she was traumatised by the train collision.
Okuhle George was on her way to Johannesburg when the passenger train she was in collided head on with a goods train near King William’s Town earlier this afternoon.
“I had taken one of my kids to the toilet. As I was returning to my seat and I was carrying the two-year-old on my back, the collision happened.
“I just fell and my children followed,” said George.
Although she says she was not injured, she was taken to Bhisho Hospital with her children and other people who were on the train.
George said passengers were screaming and frantic.
