North West Premier Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo said the decision by President Jacob Zuma to release the Marikana report on Thursday‚ ahead of the date endorsed by the North Gauteng High Court‚ bears testament to the seriousness with which the president has handled this matter since 2012.
The premier also welcomed the findings of the commission which cleared all members of the executive‚ including Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa‚ of any wrongdoing in relation to the shooting of August 2012.
These findings should be embraced by all to lay a firm foundation for true reconciliation‚ healing and renewal‚ he said.
The North West Provincial Government also welcomed the decision by the president to accept and implement recommendations in line with findings made by the commission led by retired judge Ian Farlam.
