Women’s questions will be answered

Relationship talk is a common topic among women from hair salons to taxis, and to answer all the burning questions they have about dating, a local lounge will host an “AskAMan” event this weekend.

Organiser of the event, Sethu Krakra, said women always had something to say about men and relationships in general.

“I feel this will be the best platform for them to ask the questions they’ve always had about men,” she said.

Krakra said running a beauty spa had given her an insight into the sort of things women wanted to know about men.

“You see Facebook statuses, ladies are always talking or asking questions about men. Now we won’t have the conversation just as females but there will be men from all walks of life responding to our questions,” she said.

The men who will be taking the hot seat are media personality Brian Ndevu, businessman Olwethu Hoyana, Dr Batembu Mgudlwa and Zingisa Mfaxa.

“I wanted to have men that every woman can relate to. We have Mfaxa, who is in the corporate world and is a married man, we have a businessman, a doctor and an entertainment person.

Many may know the AskAMan tag from Metro FM’s popular midday show, the Front Row. Every day, an anonymous caller calls in and asks a question that is related to dating.

Although Krakra is familiar with the show, she said the inspiration to have the event had nothing to do with it.

“I’ve listened to the show a couple of times but the idea came from a conversation I had with some guys. They said maybe we should have men involved in the sort of conversations that we have,” she said.

Krakra said she hoped women would get all the answers they have been asking themselves.

Oh!mi owner Olwethu Hoyana said the AskAMan event was a great platform for ladies to address their issues.

“This is a necessary conversation that we need to have because there are a lot of things women talk about among themselves. They will get to ask men all those questions,” he said.

Tru FM radio presenter Brian Ndevu said it was about time women had this kind of conversation with a group of men.

“This is the time for ladies to ask questions that they are scared to ask. We will tell them as it is,” he said.

“You often hear that men are dogs but there are certain things that make women cats. Ladies are more discrete than men but we also have our sixth sense,” he said.

He also added that most women assumed that men did not have emotions.

“We are also emotional beings but we hide that. This is going to be a fun event. It will be interesting hearing all the questions that ladies have,” Ndevu said.
