EFF students give Blade an ultimatum

Should Blade Nzimande “fail to listen to the students of this country‚ the shutdowns will continue and rest assured will intensify”.

That was the vow of the Economic Freedom Fighters Students Command (EFFSC) to accompany Thursday’s meeting between the higher education minister and “Student Representative Councils of various universities”.

In a statement released four minutes after the meeting had been scheduled to start‚ EFFSC spokesperson Peter Keetse said the “students of South Africa have had one unequivocal mandate to institutions of higher learning and the government of South Africa since October last year and that has not changed: ‘We want free education now and we want insourcing now!’

“Those demands remain the same.”

Keetse said the EFFSC “encourages the fearless‚ warrior students” of the University of the Witwaterand‚ University of South African and the University of Pretoria – which saw resgistration being disprupted thius week – “to carry on the fight”.

“The rest of the institutions will surely follow suit‚” said Keetse.

“Free education in our lifetime is out generational mission and it will be fulfilled.”
