A company statement said he “has a wealth of experience in the banking‚ health and digital space” and this‚ chief executive officer Mteto Nyati said‚ “will ensure that the company introduces cutting-edge systems that will significantly enhance customer experience”.

“As we venture into delivering on our strategy of being truly customer-centric‚ we need to tap into the wealth of skills that may be found outside of the telecommunications sector‚ said Nyati.

“There are organisations that have successfully gone through the same transformation‚ hence it is important to get best practice by tapping into those skills in order to set ourselves apart.

“Communication has grown to become increasingly complex and therefore it is critical that the systems we have in place meet the challenges of the modern day era‚” Nyati said.

Nyathi’s comment came hours after MTN reported in a statement that an “intermittent connection issue on the MTN network has been fully resolved and all services are now fully restored”.

MTN said the outage that affected customer on Monday and Tuesday “was caused by a malfunction on a network node that carries traffic for subscribers who were affected”.
