The African National Congress (ANC) will have 200-odd members fewer on Sunday‚ according to media invitations issued by the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and the Democratic Alliance (DA) on Thursday.

After the IFP’s deputy president‚ Inkosi Mzamo Buthelezi‚ addresses the Siyanqoba Rally in Vryheid‚ he is set to “hand over wheelchairs to six family members” and then welcome “more than 100 new members from the ANC”.

On the same day‚ the DA’s leader in Mpumalanga‚ James Masango‚ “will welcome over a hundred ANC members from Mashishing into the DA”.

These defectors‚ the party’s invitation said‚ “have lost hope and trust in the ANC leadership in the province”‚ which it said “is not surprising‚ taking into account that it is chairperson David Mabuza who cannot provide proper leadership to his comrades”.

“It is a known fact that relations between ANC comrades in Mpumalanga have been frosty for many years and the exodus of these members will increase as they see through the ANC’s unscrupulous ways of dealing with issues affecting the people of the province.”
