Roasted dino show still on

Despite negative social media reviews, the East London Dino Expo is still on at Vincent Park.

The expo, which opened last Friday, has come in for criticism on social networks for what many called “a half-baked show”.

East London residents complained about the lack of dinosaurs on show, the late starting time and ticket prices.

Cynthia Hanman said she had seen the expo in Johannesburg at the Sandton Convention Centre and was shocked when the East London expo looked nothing like what she had expected.

“That was a fantastic show in Sandton, which motivated me to bring my kids. But it was not worth the money,” she said.

“In Joburg there were more than 20 dinosaurs on show and here only four. At least we know what they think of us.”

Michelle Winston posted: “I went to the 12pm show, which started about an hour late. It’s not bad for kids – but not for R80.”

Jeannette Goldleaf’s post read: “Such a waste of my money.” Paige Sampson posted, “absolute unprofessionalism, and to think I will never get my money back”.

The expo organisers could not be reached for comment yesterday. However, following a rant on their Facebook page on Monday, the Dino Expo released another online statement yesterday apologising for the comments and announcing that the Port Elizabeth expo would continue despite an earlier decision to cancel.

The statement said the East London expo ticket prices would be reduced and exhibition space would be extended to accommodate more rides and games.

Vincent Park centre manager Joseph Parsley yesterday said they were disappointed the event has not lived up to expectations.

“We are in discussions with the organisers and will let you know the outcome of these,” he said.
