Zwai Bala “not offended” by backlash over Malema comments

Kwaito star Zwai Bala is unfazed by the Twitter backlash which erupted over comments he made about EFF leader Julius Malema on Wednesday.

Hundreds of Twitter users dug into Bala after he labelled Malema “disrespectful” for addressing the speaker of the National Assembly‚ Baleka Mbete by her first name.

“Most South Africans have a stance on the local politics and have every right to express their views. But as Africans‚ respect is standard & inexcusable. And for Julius to disrespectfully call Ms Mbete by her first name can never be correct by African standards‚ irresponsible of a leader‚” Bala tweeted.

Twitter lashed out at Bala accusing him of “picking sides” and of “wanting to be relevant“.

The debate continued for hours with Bala quickly making the trends list.

When the storm simmered down Bala returned to Twitter to let everyone know that the comments did not offend him.

In fact‚ Bala said that the passion from young South Africans gave him hope.
