KWT teen Sange a step closer to dream TV job

Growing up, 14-year-old Sange Cakata was inspired by YoTV presenters – and now the teen could be joining the kiddies’ programme.

Cakata is one of 15 youngsters who have been short-listed for the YoTV presenter search.

The King William’s Town teenager said the presenters of the show had played a crucial role in his life while growing up.

“They inspired me a lot. Now that I am older, I want to do the same for others and I also want to change the world using my talent,” he said.

This is not the first time the Grade 10 Village Montessori School pupil has entered for the YoTV presenter search.

“I entered in 2014 and I didn’t make it through to the next round. I auditioned again this year and I made it to the Top 15 and I am now waiting for a call telling me that I have made the cut,” he said.

He said he hoped to inspire other youngsters as well. “I want to teach other young people not to give up. Perseverance is the key to success,” he said.

For the next couple of months the show will be announcing the top five winners who will be joining the programme.

“I really hope that I make it through, as this would mean the world to me,” he said.

Cakata said growing up, he would sometimes pretend that he was hosting his own show while looking into the mirror.

“I realised I wanted to be a TV presenter when I was 10 years old.”
