Three wounded in Mall of Africa shooting

Three people have been wounded in an apparent shooting at the newly opened Mall of Africa in Midrand north of Johannesburg.

A Netcare spokesperson stated that they treated two of the wounded while the other patient was attended to by another emergency service.

Of the two patients treated one was a bystander who was in critical condition and has been airlifted to Johannesburg Hospital. The other patient‚ a suspected Taxi boss is in a stable condition.

Provincial police spokesperson Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng stated that the police were investigating the shooting incident and four suspects had been arrested.

“Four suspects were arrested and two of the suspects were injured and hospitalised.” He said

He also confirmed that the shootout was taxi related.

“That’s what we are here to do‚ investigate the cause of the incident but we can confirm that it’s taxi related.”
