PAC activist shot dead after hijacking in Centane

A 79-year-old Eastern Cape Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) activist who spent time with Nelson Mandela and others at Robben Island Prison in the early 1960's, was allegedly hijacked and shot dead in Centane near Butterworth last week.

The pensioner Likhadi Aba’s vehicle was also found burnt to the shell nearby his lifeless body when it was discovered along the road in Centane last Monday morning.Aba, who was arrested for his political activism and spent three years at Robben Island between 1959 and 1962, was found with a bullet wound in his head, while his shoes were found  missing.

This was confirmed yesterday by his son Bonakele who said his father was last seen on Sunday when he drove his Tata Indica from his Machibi Village home to Centane CBD.

According to Bonakele, his family was still in the dark as to what transpired in the last hours of this struggle stalwart's life.
