It’s been two months since musician and socialite Koyo Bala lost his long-standing battle against cancer but his memory lives on through his loved ones. Lerato Kganyago who was one of Koyo’s closest friends has revealed that she misses him everyday.

During a lengthy interview with True Love magazine the TV personality has opened up about what a great loss Koyo’s passing has been for her.

“I’m still mourning Koyo. I’ve lost a great human being. He was an amazing friend and believed in me more than I did. I’ve learnt so much from him in terms of how to handle myself in public and the importance of keeping the right people around me‚” Lerato said.

Koyo who was HIV positive was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2013 fought till the end to beat the disease.

Just two weeks before Koyo passed away he underwent a gruelling round of chemotherapy but could not miss the Metro FM Awards after hearing that Rato would be hosting the red carpet.

“He was always supportive of my dreams. He was the first person I told that I’d been selected to host the red carpet at the Metro FM Awards early this year. He was so excited for me that he dragged himself to the awards in Durban to support me. I cried so much when he walked into my hotel room. He was so calm as I clung onto him. I could see he was in a lot of pain‚ Lerato said.

Lerato added that losing Koyo has made her scared to get close to anyone‚ and feels “alone” for the first time in her life.
