Two suspects arrested in connection with elderly woman's disappearance

Two men have been arrested in connection with the disappearance of an elderly Port St Johns woman late on Friday night.

Pamela Burns,68, reportedly went missing after 11pm from her Second Beach Road House. Her grey Hyundai car was also missing.

But police spokesman Captain Mduduzi Godlwana  on Sunday morning revealed that two men were arrested in Mthatha  on Saturday night after police had  received g a tip off that the car had crashed.

" We found one of the suspects inside the car and he pointed out the second suspect," he said.

"They confessed that they  killed her and are now on their way to show the police where they had dumped her body."

The spokesman said the vehicle's NPS 7504 registration number had also been changed when it was found.

"They put a CA number plate."

The Daily Dispatch had reported on Saturday that the victim's son Mike Grobelaar had told police she lived alone.

Alarm bells were reportedly raised when he noticed that someone had tried to withdrawing money using his mother's bank card in Libode at 2am on Saturday and again around 11 am in East London on Saturday.

A distraught Grobelaar told the Dispatch on Sunday that they were hopeful that the body would be found.
