Alleged PE drug lord arrested during ‘Operation Lockdown’

Police have arrested an alleged drug lord in Port Elizabeth and detained him on a charge of dealing in drugs.

Members of the intervention team performing duties under “Operation Lockdown” executed a search warrant at a well-known drug post on Tuesday afternoon in Schauderville.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man.

Quantities of tik‚ a licensed 9mm firearm‚ ammunition and a substantial amount of cash were seized by the police team.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.

The distribution and sale of drugs were major contributory factors to gang violence‚ which compromised the security and safety of innocent community members‚ police said in a statement.

“The SAPS is committed to closing all avenues for drug dealers and syndicates.”

The police called on communities to continue providing tip offs in order to make their neighbourhoods safer.
