A spat has erupted between two Chintsa West smallholding neighbours after one accused the other of shooting dead her beloved pet piglet Lily Pee on Friday.

The heartbroken owner of the piglet said she planned to take her neighbour to the small claims court because he took her family's “loved one” away.

But the neighbour has vehemently denied harming the piglet, saying he had merely pushed it through his electric fence into the veld to save it from his dog.

The owner said her husband had given her the day-old piglet for her birthday in April and that the couple had bottle-fed it every three hours.

"It was our baby," she said.

She said Lily Pee had run out to greet her and her husband along with the family's six dogs when they drove into their driveway on Friday afternoon. She heard it squealing minutes later.

Her husband found the dying piglet about 60 metres away with a suspected pellet gun bullet embedded under its shoulder.
