SA Navy hands over computers to Mthatha school

It was joy all round when the SA Navy handed over 10 computers to the Tembisa Special School in Mthatha today.

The school in Khwezi township previously did not have any computers.

The donation, which was done as part of the 67 minutes in honour of former president Nelson Mandela was hailed as a step towards developing the pupils with special learning needs.

SA Navy Admiral Bubele Mhlana said they had also donated 30 other computers to other primary schools in the former Transkei.

The navy boss also hinted at adopting the school, saying he would be back to hand over music equipment but did not say when.

He cautioned the teachers against using the computers for their personal use.

“Let's work together to develop these children so that we don't see them next to traffic lights or in car parks,” he said.

Principal Mzimasi Magqabi and pupil Ayabulela Mabaso, 18, thanked the navy for the donation.
