Whiteley makes the cut for Lions' squad for Super Rugby final

Lions captain Warren Whiteley is in line to make a comeback from injury in time for the Super Rugby final against the Hurricanes in New Zealand on Saturday.

Whiteley missed out on playing in the Lions’ semifinal victory against the Highlanders at Ellis Park on Saturday afternoon after sustaining a calf injury in the quarterfinal against the Crusaders in Johannesburg a week ago.

However‚ the Lions were given a boost ahead of their departure for Wellington on Sunday when the influential captain was named in the side’s 25-man squad for the final.

The team will leave on Sunday evening from the OR Tambo International airport‚ and will be landing in New Zealand on Monday to prepare for the historic final at Westpac Stadium at 9.35am on Saturday.
