Jailed abaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo yesterday asked the monarchs who have been pleading with President Jacob Zuma to pardon him to tell the first citizen that he is obeying all prison laws.
The kings paid a visit to the West Bank maximum prison, where Dalindyebo is serving a 12-year sentence for arson, defeating the ends of justice and assault. He has served almost 10 months of his sentence.
The monarchs’ visit to Dalindyebo comes after Zuma told amaXhosa King Zwelonke Sigcawu, western Thembuland and western Mpondoland kings Siyambonga Matanzima and Ndamase Ndamase and eastern Mpondoland Queen Lombekiso Sigcau and a representative of the amaRharhabe Kingdom that he would “look into” releasing Dalindyebo on a presidential pardon after meeting with them last week.
