Commissioner guns for rogue cops

Eastern Cape police commissioner Lieutenant-General Liziwe Ntshinga has vowed to deal head-on with men and women in blue who collude with criminals.

Ntshinga, who has been in her position for only three months said such officers were declaring war and she only wanted a clean police service “dedicated to serve the community with honesty”.

The provincial police boss made the comments in Elliot where she and transport, safety and liaison MEC Weziwe Tikana were attending a crime awareness imbizo.

Elliot residents had complained that police were not interested in clamping down on crime in the area but instead worked with criminals in terrorising the small community by leaking whistleblowers’ information.
