EL cops nab suspected mall robbers

Swift police action led to the arrest of two suspects linked to a store robbery at Gilwell Taxi Rank Mall on Sunday afternoon.

Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Mtati Tana said police were alerted to the crime at around 11.30am.  It is alleged that three suspects entered a shop and at gunpoint, forced the manager and two employees to the back of the shop where their hands were tied with cables.

After demanding the safe keys, the suspects allegedly managed to get away with 40 cellphones, clothes and shoes to the value of R 30 000.

Following clues, the police managed to track two of the suspects to Scenery Park, where they were arrested. The third suspect is still at large. - Zisanda Nkonkobe
