Two alleged business robbers held in Eastern Cape

Two men were arrested for allegedly robbing a staff member at a shop in Dutywa at the weekend, Eastern Cape police said on Monday.

The pair, in their twenties, pretended they wanted to buy a cooldrink at the shop in Chizela village on Sunday afternoon, said Captain Jackson Manatha.

When a shop assistant was about to serve them, one of the men drew a knife and demanded money.

She handed over an undisclosed amount of cash. The pair also took her cellphone.

“Both men then took to their heels but fortunately the victim identified them,” said Manatha.

Officers found them a few hours later and they were charged with business robbery. They were expected to appear in the Dutywa Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
