#FeesMustFall charges dropped against Parliament student protesters

Twenty-nine people arrested at university fees protests outside Parliament last October had charges against them withdrawn on Wednesday.

The #FeesMustFall demonstrators‚ mainly students‚ appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on charges including public violence and trespassing at a national key point.

Prosecutor Nielan Chetty said charges would be withdrawn against the 29‚ who included ANC stalwart Frank Chikane’s son‚ Kgotso‚ and student activist Chumani Maxwele.

Cape Town Anglican Archbishop Thabo Makgoba was in court and congratulated the protesters after proceedings.
