HHP’s eight-day rollercoaster

Last Monday‚ rapper Jabulani Tsambo‚ popularly known as HHP‚ opened up about attempting to commit suicide three times in 2015.

What followed was a roller coaster eight days for the musician‚ as he opened up about his troubles‚ shut down his Instagram account and reportedly booked into rehab.

We take you through his tumultuous week…

Suicide confessions

HHP shocked the nation last Monday when he confessed to Gareth Cliff in an interview on CliffCentral.com (www.cliffcentral.com) that he had attempted to commit suicide three times in 2015.

In the interview‚ he admitted to using carbon monoxide and helium to try and gas himself after getting information on a suicide-assist website.

After the third attempt‚ HHP said “This voice came to me and said ‘Dude‚ if you really want to die‚ you need to live. If you really want to die‚ you need to do that shit that you’ve always wanted to do and you’ve always been scared of doing’ and one of those is speaking my mind.”

And speaking his mind was exactly what HHP would do in the next few days.

On a mission to save others

With the can of worms opened‚ the artist spoke out about his resolve to help others.

“I went through so much last year. And having gone through that‚ and having lived through that and having found Jesus Christ for real. I was like ‘Man‚ I’m glad I’m alive‚ because I can make someone else’s life even better‚” he told Metro FM.

Part of that resolve was to organise a concert to help raise enough funds to help a young girl named Zoey‚ who suffers from cerebral palsy‚ to receive a much needed operation. He committed to hosting a two-hour concert in May to raise funds for her to receive the necessary treatment she requires in China.

A wedding!

As plans for the concert started to come together‚ HHP opened up about his private life once again‚ admitting that he will soon tie-the-knot to his long-time girlfriend‚ Lerato Sengati.

Speaking to Tiso Black Star Group Entertainment‚ HHP confirmed that the couple are planning to wed in September‚ and that he is in the process of organising a bachelor’s party in Amsterdam‚ where he and his friends can “smoke dagga without being disturbed.”

Blowing up your feed

As news spread of his suicide attempts‚ concert plans and wedding arrangements‚ the rapper took to social media to post a slew of Instagram posts addressing several topics from bible verses to lip sync battles.

Perhaps his most controversial posts were ones where he wrote of his plans to invite both Cassper and AKA to his wedding (how awks would that be?) and pictures where he openly mentioned his use of dagga.

And then... silence

Just as fan’s feeds threatened to be swallowed up by posts from the rapper it suddenly went silent.

A quick search of his Instagram handle returned error and “account not found” messages. Just two weeks prior to his suicide confessions‚ he had deactivated his Twitter account over “toxic people.”

Rehab?

In the early hours of Saturday morning‚ HHP remerged on the only social media he had left: Facebook. In a fan page run by him‚ it was announced that he would be going to rehab for ten days.

Although it has been not been confirmed whether or not he is in rehab‚ in the post the musician claims that he would be checking in on Monday. (11 April)

Fans took to the comments section of the post‚ and to his private account‚ to offer him support and well wishes during his stay in rehab.

Where to from here?
