Sfiso Ncwane imposter charging R5 for a CD

Gospel musician Sfiso Ncwane has been advised to lay charges against a man he says is impersonating him and selling pirated copies of his albums.

Taking to Facebook recently‚ the controversial gospel star told fans that someone had been pretending to be him and was selling his CDs for as little as R5. The man apparently performs in Isipingo‚ near Durban in Kwa-Zulu Natal.

He’s pleaded with fans to help him find the imposter‚ by sending him the man’s name and picture. Talking to Daily Sun (http://www.dailysun.co.za/)‚ Ncwane says he was alerted about the imposter by a relative‚ who confronted the man and was told that he was sent by Ncwane.

“I’m saying he must not sing my songs when he performs at a concert or an event. He provokes me if he plays my CD and pretends to be singing like me to make money. Recording an album is very expensive and many music shops are closing down because of piracy.”

The musician says that the situation has left him angry and he has been advised to take legal action against the man.

“I have been advised by friends in the police to open a case because I want this man to be jailed.”

Ncwane made headlines last year after gifting his pastor with a car worth R1.9 million for apparently saving his life. Later reports claimed it was a publicity stunt and the musician was struggling to make the car payments.

The controversial gift was once again thrown into the spotlight a few weeks later when Ncwane’s mother apparently claimed that she did not have enough money to even feed herself‚ while her son spent money on gifts‚ causing a bitter public feud between them.
