Euphonik to cash in on Nonke trend

Euphonik is set to turn his popular Twitter rant from an online trend to a fashion one. The well-known DJ and businessman this week confirmed that he has started production on a new range of clothing inspired by his catch-phrase #Nonke.

Talking to Tiso Black Star Group Entertainment on Thursday‚ Euphonik confirmed that he will be launching a range of T-Shirts with the phrase (which means “everyone“) next week‚ explaining that he saw a business opportunity in the phrase‚ used by him in a Twitter rant earlier this month.

“I don’t take things seriously and so when I saw that my comments‚ and in particular the phrase Nonke‚ had trended for seven days straight‚ the businessman inside of me told me to try commercialise it‚” he said.

Euphonik said that the range is inspired by the people who made the phrase trend.

“It’s become something of a greeting and so the shirt can now be used to say ‘Nonke’ to anyone. You can say it to your boss‚ to your friend‚ to anyone really‚” he said.

Euphonik revealed that if the range is successful it will be extended to other merchandise‚ including caps and hoodies.

But for now the range will be exclusively available from his Debut clothing store in Johannesburg and the store’s website. It will retail for around R299.

The popular phrase has gone viral since Euphonik used it in a Twitter rant aimed at his ex Bonang Matheba earlier this month.

He concluded his seven-point outburst with the profanity “Msunu yenu nonke” - a remark that many saw as being aimed at everyone on the social media site.
